Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 2)

I’ve been meaning to write a long post about this for a long time but the gist of it would be: we’ve been here before and chose to kill millions in the AIDS pandemic to boost profits. Then, as now, the drugs were developed with public money (with the exception of AZ which far right fundamentalist made sure wasn’t available to the global south). This is beyond infuriating. It is the single issue I am most angry about now.

part of this seems to be the gates foundation’s outsized influence, billg’s own investments, and his belief that patents are the way to go

Gates has played in the pandemic has been elevating the pharmaceutical industry—for example, pushing the University of Oxford to deliver its leading Covid-19 vaccine platform into the hands of Big Pharma

thereve been a number of small articles about it now. and if you want to get deep into conspiracy land, it is at least interesting that the microchip meme maybe pushed people to more fully and uncritically embrace the gates foundation during this. the big lie becomes the defense against a disconcerting truth

not that any one person is to blame. i guess from me more disappointment that with such influence his foundation could have been a force for lifting patents, instead it seems to have worked with pharma to help enforce patents - status quo

It’s time we had a frank discussion about private education.

Although Vainshelboim is not connected to Stanford, a handful of University affiliates, including Hoover Senior Fellow Scott Atlas and professor of medicine Jay Bhattacharya, have been criticized by public health experts for spreading misinformation.

I blame the EU, the US, and rich capitalist countries in general.

That factor is exactly why women should be, but apparently are not, being advised to postpone any scheduled mammograms until a month or two following your last shot. Those swollen nodes are a trigger on mammograms, but also pretty common when you have just triggered the hell out of your immune system right there by making it think it is fighting Covid!

(Or I could just catch up on the thread and realize I have been ninja’d by everybody!)

Calling it a tragedy suggests to me there was no human involvement so this is an utter moral failing in leadership. Many stories coming out of people dying due to lack of oxygen and now the government silencing any criticism on social media. :woman_facepalming:

Just got a text from a friend. Clinical doctor and researcher: “Finally someone says this.”

I expect some fallout for German politics soon, because die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt.

That was my first thought too, remembering the Sam Adams commercial where the nurse informs “Your cousin from Boston” that it’s an ‘arm one’ after he drops trou.
