They know. At best they don’t care. And they’d like to pull the plug on NPR.
Yup. You let your guard down just a little. Thing is, marinating that level of vigilance is utterly exhausting. And small slips is all it takes.
And uncomfortably sticky.
I think I will just leave that typo alone. Marinating sums it up quite nicely. I feel fully tenderized and seasoned at this point.
Anybody else seen this graph from South Africa?
It is a very good thing that omicron seems to be at least no worse as far as adverse outcomes, because transmissibility seems to be right off the chart.
Once again, Ontario is tipping over. The Ontario Science Table (led by ex-pat Dr. Peter Jüni) has put out its Brief for December 7th. The paper acknowledges staff burn-out and staffing challenges in the health care system, and warns that we are headed for 3,000 cases/day (about 21/100k) by January even without Omicron. Even with an immediate lock-down in place and 30% vaccination of children by end of December, ICU’s are projected to be near crisis capacity for January.
We appear to be getting our first Omicron super-spreader events (suspected, in this case, the strain of the virus is yet to be confirmed, but a wild 42 of 75 people caught it despite the restaurant adhering to the prescribed measures).
Yup. See the graph posted just above. The transmissibility of the beast is pretty damned amazing. The acute morbidity/mortality does not seem to be worse, so far, but the sheer numbers are frightening. Our healthcare system has not had a moment to breath, and if this lives up to it’s potential, it may be ugly. Vax, mask, distance, do what you can. I can’t emphasize enough, it is not over.
I’ll bet he saves it in mason jars in his fridge.
‘Better to lose life than freedom’, says Mr. Queiroga, Brazilian Ministry of Health on the so called “vaccine Passport” and restrictions on unvaccinated people.
Well, I guess you’ll have to walk.

A Vancouver man says he has been stranded in Toronto for the last week after his layover at Pearson Airport, as the COVID-19 vaccine mandates for travel came into effect, meant he could not board his connecting flight.
Kuoth Jock-Kong was travelling from Vancouver to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with a layover in Toronto on Nov. 29. He landed just around 2 a.m. and his flight from Toronto to Addis Ababa was scheduled for Nov. 30 just after 10 a.m.

“I stand 10 toes down on what I believe. And if they don’t want to meet me anywhere in the middle ground, so be it, I will stay at the airport until they kick me out. And if they kick me out, I’ll go out into the streets with my bags,” said Jock-Kong.
During his time at Pearson’s Terminal 1, he made a number of attempts to speak with airline representatives and customer service to make his case but had no luck.
On Dec. 6, he said security kicked him out of the airport and he is now staying in a hotel until he can figure out a way to get back to Vancouver.
Is it still useful when it’s collected from cadavers?
Oddly enough, yes. (For 24 to 36 hours after death occurs.)
Yay for zombie sperm?
I petition to get you a new BBS badge “seasoned” in addition to “regular”.
How free are people who die of Covid, again?
Barbara Streisand… do your thing.
