Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 3)

Replace meteor with pandemic and this might just be a reflection of our reality the last two years.

On my list to watch Christmas Eve as me and the wife spend another quiet Christmas Eve with just the two of us. Thanks anti vaxxers and freedum loving idiots who won’t wear a mask.

Although alone with my wife is a good thing but she misses the big family get together.

Meanwhile, in Missouri:

(I debated whether to put this in the Wrath topic)

Wait, if I read that correctly, schools cannot require kids who test positive to stay home? And also cannot require masks? Holy shit, what a disaster is brewing out there! I cannot understand anyone being so nonchalant about children’s lives and health. Wow, they suck!!

No one knows for sure yet about this one.

This one seems clear enough, though. :grimacing:

A Vancouver man says he has been stranded in Toronto for the last week after his layover at Pearson Airport

Travel in the pandemic has been an unfortunate necessity for us, leading to family members stranded overseas for weeks as flights were repeatedly re-booked. We lost thousands when Expedia/Airline (they blame each other) reneged on our promised refund after the final cancellation. The insurance company flatly denied the claims for the cancellation because of the pandemic clause in the insurance contract. The credit card company could not help because they were stuck overseas so long the transaction was no longer open to challenge. We thought about taking the airline to court, but would very likely end up against another family member, who is one of their top lawyers.

The :canada: government has not enforced the supposed right to a refund for passengers. You fly at your own risk.

I recommend you keep enough space on the credit card for a used car and few tanks of gas to get you home. At one point it was looking like I would have to drive from Toronto to LA to pick up family.

I have much sympathy for people flying during the pandemic. I’ve had to and will do so again tomorrow.

I have none for people who didn’t get vaccinated and fly.

Yay! I got my Pfizer booster dose yesterday. So far, the only side effect seems to be a sore arm, which I had with the first two doses; interestingly, the sore arm wasn’t as bad as the one that came with dose #2.

I had a sore arm and fever/chills for about a day… but mine was Moderna, and it’s still worth it.

This is mostly not great news:

For the love of God.

A good freind sent me a link to watch his middle school kid’s band concert this evening. About 150 parents and grandparents in a small gym sitting shoulder to shoulder. During the quiet portion you can hear a lot of coughing.

Not a single mask. I checked their county, 31% positivity.

It never ends.

My freind texted me, the cheesecake we bought to support the band is in, he wants to stop by with it for a visit.

He’s kidding, right? Leave it on the porch and go away.

Not going to become law; but a very stupid action. And a great waste of their limited schedule time.

Let’s hope it didn’t interfere with their lobbyist lunch dates.

Ron Johnson is now... pushing mouthwash as a COVID treatment.

On his tele-town hall right now:

"By the way, standard gargle, mouthwash, has been proven to kill the coronavirus. If you get it, you may reduce viral replication. Why not try all these things?"

— Tim Hogan (@timjhogan) December 8, 2021

Here’s hoping that he follows his own advice.

This seems like it could be an excellent treatment for anyone who currently has coronavirus but only inside their mouth.
