That’s certainly one way to deal with the problem of radicals in the armed forces

The next step will be requiring all on-base contractors and DoD employees to be vaccinated too. Which I have no gripe with!

Yesterday we hung out with a couple of my outlaws. No masks, all four vaccinated, and mostly distant, in a large workshop that’s ventilated as if a retired machinist hung out there all day. I’ve been twitchy as hell ever since, and I just figured out that it’s because my internal threat profile doesn’t seem to have been updated to include my own vaccination. And I’m also not entirely sure that I want it to.

IIRC, the VICP program came about because, relative to other pharmaceuticals, vaccines are very low margin and the pharma companies needed some convincing to even continue developing and distributing vaccines. The VICP is to defray some of the legal risk of vaccines. It’s most certainly NOT because vaccines are more dangerous than other drugs. On the contrary, vaccine safety profiles are head-and-shoulders above those for other pharmaceuticals.

So again, if someone’s full of shit, there’s no need to go looking for diamonds in their toilet.

Despite the soaring risk, GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis is taking no precautions. In fact, DeSantis signed an executive order banning vaccination and mask mandates, including in public schools. He said he wants to allow freedom of choice for parents and likes seeing the unmasked faces of smiling children.

That is exactly correct. It arose after several vaccine makers announced plans to get out of the business due to threats of lawsuits from antivaxx-types. It was the only way to keep them making the things. It’s still a very slim margin business for the legacy vaccines (DTaP, MMR, polio, etc) and we frequently deal with supply shortages because when the manufacturing plants need maintaining, they just shut the whole thing down and there is no alternative supply. It’s a shitty way to run things.

The GLOW region (an area so conservative, it makes Staten Island look like a vegan cafe) in western new york is on fire at the moment

And once again, see how the political leanings of the protesters govern the type of police response. These anti-vax idiots get gently pushed away as they’re trying to storm a building, while left-wing or anti war protesters would have been kettled, baton charged and mass arrests would have taken place.

Imagine working so hard to kill off your constituents in order to vie for the honor of becoming the next Mike Pence.

We asked to defund the police, not kill them!
