It really is quite bizarre how fervently the GQP wants people to die of Covid. This is not a Machiavellian willingness to accept Covid deaths in order to further their chances of winning elections. Nor is it simple apathy. They are actively going out of their way to increase deaths.

IMHO, Garth Brooks really is trying, in a way Trumpy environment, to push values that I feel most of us would support.
I think we need to get out of this mindset that country musicians are inherently red state conservatives. In addition to Garth, there is Dolly and Willie Nelson, among others. I guess she doesnât do country any more, but Taylor Swift, too. Lots of folk musicians operate in a country idiom, too⌠Nanci Griffith, etc.
Country musicians certainly donât have to beâŚbut considering what happened to the Dixie Chicks when they said they were ashamed of Bush, and how nothing happened to Hank Williams Jr. when he compared Obama to Hitler, I think there might be reasons to be skeptical of the country music scene.
