I have actually engineered and run a similar system, though of course on a slightly smaller scale. There was only one circumstance, affecting about 1% of our students, that resulted in us issuing temporary paper cards until the plastic ID cards could be mailed to their employers. And even those weren’t supposed to be taken at face value without external verification. I would trust those CDC cards slightly more if they had the Boy Scout salute printed on the back.
I’m sure he’ll announce this request with a press conference like he has all his other nonsense.
And really has me suspicious about the timing of this…
Being critical is ok, but you shouldn’t be to suspicious. Knowing government speed, this was prepared for months and months and months ago…
It’s often safer to assume neglect, ignorance, or idleness, because malice would mean to invest energy.
I was thinking, it would be great to put together a coalition of traveling nurses and physicians and answer Texas’ call - on the condition (with a signed, written contract) that Abbott institute mask and vaccine mandates for all public workers in Texas and for schools for the coming school year, along with dropping all voter suppression proposals.
There’s a special place in hell for this asshole.
I am as certain as I can be that I do nor want to meet these assholes. It would not go well.
FTFY. He has gone all in on the death cult.
As someone who’ll probably stay in France for a couple more years, I’m very happy about this particular policy.
We’ve been showing proof of vaccination even at outdoor café and restaurant seating (and on transport etc) since Monday.
The thing that strikes me about the vaccine “hesitant” (here and elsewhere) is how feeble a grasp they have of the science (when talking of vaccines), the philosophy (when talking of their rights), and even how employment works when asked to justify their positions.
Sure, but my point is that we should not assume political orientation from the kind of music someone plays.
Oh jesus! WTF?
Me too. Thanks Dolly!
For these and other reasons, I have stated that antivaxxers and covidiots in healthcare are dangerous. They have publicly demonstrated that they lack the basic knowledge and intelligence to perform the tasks for which they have been hired and should be summarily discharged. They are a danger to public health and incapable of doing their jobs. WTF are they doing still employed??

As far as I understand it (i.e. not really anything beyond 'this is somehow about sugar, sort of) this could make the virus less infectious by making it harder for it to enter cells. And it should work on all variants because it involves a critical part of the spikes.
Anyone who actually understands this wanna weigh in?
Maybe? Basic science, and not therapeutic intervention just yet. Way too many things that look promising in basic fail in clinical, but this is looking at a substance binding to an N-glycan locus in the Spike protein, which is interesting. The authors hypothesize that binding these 2 loci may interfere with the ability of the virus to infect human cells. If it pans out, it would be potentially useful therapeutically, but not prophylactically, which is really what we need. It is very much not ready for prime time, but certainly worth further evaluation.
2 things jump out to me:
- Does binding these loci actually interfere with cell-virus interaction? Seems reasonable that it might, but “reasonable” on the cellular scale does not always apply. If it does, how much?
- What other things do the moieties interfere with and how well tolerated are they by the human body?
Lots of research to be done.

At least 1 million people got unauthorized third booster shot
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that more than 1 million people who have received the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine have gone back for an unauthorized third booster shot.
Florida is among the states reporting the highest number of people opting for a booster shot, followed by Ohio, California, Illinois and Tennessee.
The estimated 1.1 million, included in an internal CDC briefing document reviewed by ABC News, likely is an undercount because although it counts Moderna and Pfizer shot recipients it ignores people who may have received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine and got another shot.
It’s also unclear whether people who received a third shot did so under the direction of a doctor. The Food and Drug Administration hasn’t authorized a third shot to boost immunity, although there are reports of some physicians encouraging severely immunocompromised patients to do so.
Boosters for the immunocompromised may be recommended by the FDA within weeks.
