Covered elsewhere, but this is a fairly rare disease of usually dark skinned folks, hence research is fairly sparse. (Shocking, I know) But what is known is R0 is estimated at 1.0 at the upper limit, which indicates that an outbreak can be sustained but is unlikely to go into exponential growth like we have become so familiar with lately. There seem to be 2 strains, one with a mortality of <1%, one at >10%. This one may be the second. There is an approved vaccine, but we all know how that goes. It does have a particularly gnarly skin eruption associated with it, so will garner more attention than less symptomatic infections.
long story short, unlikely to become a major player, but will be an issue. Fun times…

In a politburo meeting on Tuesday, Kim blasted the “immaturity in the state capacity for coping with the crisis” and blamed the poor response on officials’ "non-positive attitude, slackness, and non-activity,” according to KCNA.
