Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 4)

I’d say “ugh ” if the small congregation, of a larger denomination, that I attended as a kid hadn’t been the stalking grounds for two pedophiles, at the same time, both in the leadership. (The second one managed to drop a tractor on his head shortly after his release from jail… but I digress…)
The police check is overkill 99% of the time… but you don’t always see that 1% coming.

We have sent the kids off on canoe trips / camp. Camp is such a super experience for regular city kids, but the specialized camps do so much great work. Kudos to your daughter for stepping up.

Camp closures… put it down as another disappointing twist in the tale of COVID…

The Working With Children check is sometimes a PITA, and as you say, 99% of the time it’s a formality. But it’s not done for the 99%, it’s to find that <1%.

It’s a PITA I’m willing to put up with for the intended result.

Absolutely. My kid is part of the 99%, which is why she completely understood how important the check is.

Even that one is specific to the BA.1 variant, which has already been overtaken by newer variants. Hopefully it will be helpful but it’s unlikely to be a magic bullet. Dr Paul Offit (a prominent and longtime advocate for vaccinations) is one of the members of the FDA advisory committee who voted against it because he thought the evidence was lacking.

Which is still dozens of sub-variants closer to the prevalent virus than the current boosters.
