Hard pass.
Reminder: As of 4/1, Iowa has become the first state to stop reporting covid data, including transmission rates and deaths.
New Iowa tourist motto: The Best Avoided State!
Maybe they need an updated version of the song âIowa Stubbornâ with more FAFO lyrics.

Nice juxtaposition there. Well, not nice i guess.
As of 7 March 2023, 1,168 XBB.1.9.1 sequenced cases had been identified in England. There were 39 deaths among these cases.
A 3.3% case fatality rate.
I mean, I realize post-Brexit is a turning bit Dickensian, but that seems high.
If true, calamitous. I will hold off on hanging crepe just yet, pending further info.
Genomic Surveillance in Ontario as of April 7 indicates XBB 1.9.1 is here.
The proportion of XBB.1.9.1 remained stable at 3.0% (March 12 to March 18) and 3.2% (March
19 to March 25) and is projected to reach 9.5% (95% CI: 6.1% - 14.6%) by April 12, 2023.
- The weekly growth rate of XBB.1.9.1 is 1.43 (95% CI: 1.30 - 1.57) times that of XBB.1.5.
The counts are small (N=208 so far this year), but nothing indicates that XBB 1.9.1 is over-represented in hospital admissions or deaths here.
No thanks. We really donât want another one:
World Health Organization says strain doesnât appear to spread easily between humans
Not if anti-vaxxers have any engagement with it!
So my momâs assisted living place had an Easter party, guess how it ended up. So far the office staff and several residents currently have covid. My mom is still healthy because she didnât attend but she has been around the office staff. So far so good though.
And check this out, weâre watching the Tigers at Toronto, look in the third row behind home plate.
Good for them.
I hope your mom is going to be okayâŚ
Is that Murdoch?
Third row is masked. At least some of them.
(Second row, first guy from the right looks a bit like Bill Gates?)
Oh! Derp.
Conjunctivitis is not exactly a ânewâ symptom. It was one of the very first ones recognized back in the early days, itâs just kind of faded in the last few rounds. And âArcturus?â Who the hell names these things?
âKrakenâ was just a nickname made up by some professor at Guelph, and somehow media started taking it as actual terminology. I assume this is the same, although maybe itâs from other random guy since we switched from monsters to starsâŚnothing seems to credit any real source.
