Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 4)

For us (outpatient docs) we carry all kinds of instruments and distractions since we never know what we will need. Think EDC but for everything from fussy newborns to grumpy teens to panicked parents. Never enough pockets!

Moderna, meanwhile, now has its omicron-specific booster dose in Phase III trials. The company is also expecting that the booster could be used for an annual shot. However, Moderna is setting its sights higher with a seasonal shot that would cover seasonal flu and another seasonal respiratory virus, RSV, in addition to COVID-19.

This is pretty exciting if it can be worked out. mRNA tech holds the possibility for the kind of omnivaccine that has been so damned elusive for so long. Color me excited!!

Wearing a pair of Dickie’s right now. Can carry my cell phone, keys, pen, notepad, and still have room for other things I might pick up and need to carry for a bit while leaving my hands free. For people who move around a lot during the course of their work, as opposed to sit in the same place all day, it’s very helpful to have all those pockets running down the legs.

The best of luck goes out to folks who live in red states.

Personally, I already do this, but some folks like me have particularly narrow bridges on their noses. Glasses, safety goggles, you name it…I’m at the extreme end of the spectrum.

Yeah, back when I thought we might be traveling internationally as a family (during the lull), I contacted Indiana’s state health department to see about getting some sort of document or online proof that would be accepted while traveling, and they totally agreed that it was a reasonable thing to expect from the state health department but they weren’t able to do it. So until I was able to get my vaccine info into my medical record at a hospital in a different state, I had no possibility for getting the QR code. Fortunately my kids live in mostly-blue states so they had a better time of it.

But is she actually paying them, or is she trumpifying those fines?

I always thought it was a British folk song:

Indeed. The Asonance band, albeit being from Czech Republic, played irish and scottish songs.

Cool, thanks!

Do you know why they chose that musical genre, instead of something closer to home?

I have no idea. There are some people in japan, for example, playing samba… This is the globalization, I think…

It is really cool, isn’t it? Why not learn another culture’s music?

The government won’t call a lockdown, so the population is calling it anyway.

Me, too. Imagine the improvements in even the seasonal flu vaccine when it can be produced in response to the variants that present that season instead of a guesswork of maybes. Key will be the flexibility and responsiveness of the regulators to essentially pre-approving the platform and then reviewing the variant cocktail rapidly when it’s ready to deploy.

This. I like the jogger style, but all those pockets are great. No sitting all day on my wallet.
