Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 4)

Iā€™m sure there are many millions who were in the same position as you, plus millions more who got false negatives. I have several relatives who initially had false negatives on both antigen and PCR tests even after being symptomatic for days. My son had a negative antigen test on day 2 of symptoms, negative PCR test in day 3, finally tested positive on an antigen test around day 5 and PCR after that just to make it official. Even my doctor sister thought he was probably negative after the first PCR test so itā€™s safe to say most people would have stopped testing before we did, especially since his symptoms were mild.

This could be a game-changer for some vulnerable folks. I just hope that the high number of false negatives that I was referring to upthread doesnā€™t prevent too many folks who need it from getting these treatments.

and theyā€™re already talking about getting rid of masks on planes :crying_cat_face:

Thatā€™s providing the pills can get to the pharmacies.

It took 5 weeks to get our free tests so Iā€™m going with a wait and see on if it works like Biden says it will.

Iā€™m sure sooner or later it will but I think it will be months before it gets as easy as heā€™s saying.

Either way it is good news.

Iā€™m wondering how many years it will take for me to feel comfortable riding a train cross-country or going on a cruise. Until then, whenever I hear about folks going around maskless, my response will be this:

In my state cases have dropped like a brick and positivity is finally under 4% (my county is still over 11% though because itā€™s really red here) but deaths remain a straight line.

Has anyone seen any explanations why deaths are remaining constant while everything else drops? I searched but couldnā€™t find any clear explanations.

Best answer is that hospitalizations lag cases and deaths lag hospitalizations. Generally, if someone dies of covid, they have been in the ICU for some time already. Probably not the whole story, but at least a first approximation of one.

I thought he was against the government telling kids what to do instead of their parents?

I went to DeSantisā€™ twitter just for fun, he posted the video but muted the sound for the first part where he yelled at the kids. When the speech was over he walked away from them and never spoke to them.

If heā€™s tired of theater why were the kids even there if he wasnā€™t going to talk to them?

Oh, and for some reason he attacked France.

If they do, I strongly suggest that they make it a felony to harass someone for wearing a mask. You just know that some MAGAts are going to hassle people who continue to wear masks on planes, often aggressively.

That would be my guess, too. Some of the folks in the ICU have been there for over 100 days. :grimacing:

The numbers in BC today weā€™re 10 fewer in the ICUā€¦ and 10 more dead.

There have more than a few times of late here where the ā€œpositiveā€ news of x fewer hospitalizations or People in the ICU are followed by close to x number of new deaths.

My niece is a nurse anesthetist, and tells me that to a large extent, folks who go on the vent with covid are on for a long time, and most donā€™t come off.
