Pandering to the coal industry today is like pandering to the whale oil industry in the age of petroleum.
We know it’s dangerous, it’s outdated, it’s environmentally irresponsible and it’s an unsustainable energy source that couldn’t keep up with demand even if we wanted to stick with it. So we can either tell comforting lies about everyone’s job security or we can provide opportunities for those workers to actually remain part of the modern economy.

I was wondering if that poster was even the real text of the Declaration of Independence or some other propaganda being read to them at “seminars.”
The more we see from these events, hearing so many of them mention other conferences or paid events, it reminds me of a more creepy and eviler version of those multi-level marketing scams.

All the cult shit I’ve bumped into in my lifetime had this weird kind of business/mlm feel to it. Maybe it’s always been that way too, I dunno. Ever gone to an expensive seminar on astrology? They exist and people pay for it to “rank up” in it or something. But it’s also total bullshit. So what are they paying for? Still if one goes along with some one to a seminar, it’ll be very serious and professional with all the trappings of an agile new start up and a lot of way friendlier people than really should be expected of strangers.

My own naive trucker perspective. The job is becoming more and more monitored. You don’t need a machine to do the job, just make a human behave like a machine. I understand this might be the wrong protest. The right protest will get a yawn. Trucking is the last gasp of the working middle class. My grandfather could work his whole life and retire in Florida, buy a place in a trailer park and a 12ft boat to fish in his retirement. What is the choice now? American chemical Corp. to death is not an option. I guess it is to get angry and buy a gun?
This isn’t a working class protest. It’s a fascist demonstration paid for by the wealthy.
If this was a working class protest, there would be riot police, tear gas, and batons. There would be arrests of peaceful protesters and media and legal observers.
The fact that we’re this far along and none of that’s happened tells you this is bought and paid for by oligarchs and their police forces have been ordered to stand down.

What you are saying is true. Money organizes everything.
I doubt any of the protestors have been paid in anything other than propaganda. Why are they receptive to this propaganda?
They understand that there are forces bigger than themselves effecting their lives. Who is to blame? Choose someone, none of them care.
