Cooking (not just dinner)

That looks great. Those squashed fried ones on the side are how I’ve had plantain, (that and in green curry) which made me think about using them as a lid for a casserole or something.

Mofongo, eh? Googles…

Frito-Lay produces MoFongo Snax, a combined plantain chips, cassava chips and pork rinds.

Oh hell yes.

No sweet ones? Caramelized in a syrup of their own sugar cooking out?

No, but would like to try! They’re just a bit tricky to get hold of without going to markets and the like. :frowning2:

Are pie-shaming here? Throwing out the Tart word. You don’t know that pie. You can’t judge it.

Fooled you twice - they both are!

One’s just a traditional Portuguese egg tart (nata) and the other is the Chinese variation originally from Macau.

This is egg-custard pie:

It’s a reclaiming thing. But I’ll change it, to avoid offense.

We had some Dutch friends who would make quiche with the pastry folded on top. As thick as a cake with a load of vegetables inside.

I could do without meat without missing it too much, but vegetables make a meal as far as I’m concerned.

Yup, you should be envious. Still burping up Cuban from lunch .

Made a tiger cake to celebrate my husband birthday. No recipe until someone correctly guesses the theme.

Poor man’s breakfast:

Ramen package.

One egg.

In a small, clean pan, boil some water.

Put in ramen for one minute. Turn heat to low-low. Add egg and pickle juice, just a bit,

Sprinkle packet.

Cover, and allow to sit.

Look at it: isn’t it beautiful?

Yes it is.

Allow to settle for several minutes while you’re distracted.

Ready!

Eat thankfully.
