Domestic violence is highly correlated with other types of violence. One of the frequently proposed, and probably most likely effective, gun control legislations targets DV offenders specifically for that reason. But they can still be cops…

IIRC police in Britain did a study on the correlation between domestic violence and terrorism. They looked at a sample of convicted terrorists and found that they had all been accused (at least) of domestic violence before they graduated to terrorism.
