The individual shot in this instance was Trans gendered. They are depicted in the picture in the article.

100% can relate. I also use grandiose turns of phrase to show off my own meagre wit and misgender the dead.

An earlier respondent suggested the cops were near the end of their shift and I will add they did not want to go home late because a superior would have to sign off on the overtime or something.
