Cops steal black woman banker's BMW, commit her when she asks for it back

add false imprisonment to that charge sheet too

Even by conspiracy theory crank standards, that post was particularly incoherent. You literally made no point at all. I suggest you reread your point, think hard about whether it actually made sense. If you think it did, then you probably have some issues. Iā€™m not even saying this to troll. You should go outside more, maybe hang out with some friends before you end up going full crazy

No words. None.

Even if she was crazy as alleged thereā€™s no evidence sheā€™s dangerous to herself or to others and thus no basis for an involuntary psych admit.

As usual, Scott Alexander is exceptionally fair-minded:

A smart tip for smart people: a situation where the authorities have come to doubt your mental competence is probably not the best situation to mention that the POTUSA follows you on Twitter.

Sounds like the hospitals should probably lose access to federal funds until they stop doing such things. Perhaps the doctors should have their licenses yanked as well.

For brevityā€™s sake, I skipped over some of the lesser charges.

How many rats have you stabbed to learn this fact?

Well, none, to be fair, but we did own a pair of extremely comitted ratty escapologists once who regularly decided living in the sofa was far preferable to their nice comfy tank, so I can attest to their rapidity in situations they want to avoidā€¦

Hi, welcome to Boing Boing, that was the best bit of surreal ranting I have read in awhile but it could use some work. Maybe you would like to stick around and help us count to 10000?

Anyone think @Nom_de_plume will stick around?

The post is already gone. Iā€™m sad, as I appear to have missed something good.

It was mildly entertaining. But you didnā€™t miss that much really.

Before or after the incedent?

As it is easily verifiable, it is an obvious thing to do. A policeman who fails to check out an easily verifiable fact isā€¦wellā€¦

True story. A colleague, X was once returning from Israel but arrived late at the airport. The guards treated him with great suspicion and asked why he was late. He replied ā€œI had a meeting with the Defense Minister and he was delayed.ā€
So they put him in a cell with an armed guard. Then someone came along with an IQ higher than 80 who asked the name of the Minister, where his office was etc., and decided they should check. But by then the Minister was at lunch. When he returned (as X later found out), he phoned up the airport and indicated his displeasure.
The goons escorted him to the next plane having given him nothing to eat or drink and put him on board. Because they could not bear to admit they were wrong.

So: what explanation would you have given to some half trained immigrants given one of the most boring jobs in Israel?

Got it. And this is longer using that example ā€œgoes like a rat running to a comfy sofa when you downshift.ā€

Iā€™m just saying that if youā€™re in a situation where people are already doubting your mental competence, it may not be the best idea to volunteer statements that could be easily confused with delusions of grandeur or other stereotypical indicators of mental illness.

Yes, itā€™s easily verified, but it does nothing to establish the fact of her mental competence and actually provides some circumstantial (and misleading) evidence to the contrary.

Donā€™t forget kidnapping.

I read about this when it first happened, and have tried to follow the story since. It seems like the only information being used is the womanā€™s account and that of her lawyer. I wish that someone would do some actual journalism about this, and release more known facts, and fewer unconfirmed claims. It seems bizarre to me that people would doubt the possibility that a POC could own a 12 year old BMW. Would the police not look at the registration? And why would someoneā€™s twitter account be relevant to a traffic stop? I will be interested to read the facts of the case, should they ever come to light.
