I always find it weird when adults seem over-eager to explain why kids should be allowed to have sex and legal ages are arbitrary.
I would say it sounds more like “grooming”.
Grooming is a form of coercion.
I’d argue it’s worse. At least openly coercing someone leaves a clearly guilty party to be angry at.
Normalizing the abuse, though, is the penultimate form of gaslighting. It completely fucks with your sense of who’s responsible. Leaves the victim wondering how much they actually wanted, and whether or not parts of it were okay, That’s the kind of thing that creates a cycle of abuse, rather than just a singular crime.
Okay. I’d still argue it’s not completely different from coercion, but a form of it.
That’s fair.
It sounds like Charlie wasn’t the first link in the chain, he was only young himself and I don’t think he got the idea that it was normal for teenagers to get molested in Hollywood all on his own.
It’s starting to feel like the whole movie industry is just some kind of cover for an awful underground sex trade, spanning across generations. I hope that we’re seeing the beginnings of a change now, but it’s hard to be hopeful when you see how deep the roots go.
I was referring to wombat34’s post, which was hidden, which means it was flagged. My understanding is hidden comments will stay hidden until a mod takes action, which could be that the mod lets that comment stay and unhides it, deletes it or is unable to get to it for some reason and it stays hidden.
Not interested. Gave you relevant information anyway, hope it’s helpful.
Not really, since it wasn’t related in any way to my post, but thanks for the white noise.
