"Cruelty free" Italian snail-farming booms thanks to caviar and slime-cosmetics

Honestly, the snake one freaked me out more than the snail one. But, I do draw the line at (non-microscopic) animals roaming around free on my face.

When my sister had a milestone birthday a few years ago that included a “girls get-together” I took a bunch of these-type facial packs. Most of her friends opted to take them home rather then try them during the spa-time. For me, they all seemed about the same as any other - not much effect at all.

Thank you now I have to see that movie (ETA) again

A cosmetic science blogger suggests that

As the [snail slime] polymers shrink they pull the skin to which they have been applied you feel a tightening of the skin in the area applied. If you are lucky it might get rid of or at least reduce some fine dryness lines as well.
So in principle it could be quite effective.

But he also says that any other water-soluble polymers, like egg white or wallpaper paste, might work just as well.
