What’re the odds?
That case appears to be entirely without merit. This is one of the alleged copyright violations by Swift:
The plaintiff is representing herself, and I’m not surprised, because no lawyer would take that case. I can’t imagine that lawsuit not getting dismissed, but I guess we’ll find out how beholden Cannon really is to Trump.
I guess the stage play Chicago is ALSO ripping her off…
Can you explain why and how this happened?
In April, Marasco—of Fort Pierce, Florida—filed a lawsuit against Taylor Swift Productions Inc. The case moved from small claims court to the Southern District of Florida, a federal court, in May, where Cannon was assigned.
How does this go from small claims court to federal court?
Well…copyright law is federal, so if she’s alleging copyright infringement, it should have been filed in federal district court to begin with. I saw she initially sued for $100, I think. I don’t know exactly what happened, but my guess is the small claims court informed her that they weren’t the proper venue for that case. I’m not sure what prompted her to jack up the claim from $100 to $7M, but federal district court is where copyright infringement suits are properly filed.
Makes sense! thanks!
I’m wondering if some Trumpers are involved in anyway…
Representing yourself in a weak case against a billionaire. That doesn’t end well.
Dersh to volunteer his services soon?
And Cabaret (which has the added detail of actually being about Nazi Germany).
I read the comments to the Newsweek article, and the woman is actually responding to readers’ comments. She’s a bit off. She’s telling people who post comments that are contrary to her views that they are harassing her.
The other funny thing is that Swift’s lyric referenced in that comment about Nellie Bly isn’t exactly the same as hers. She misquoted Swift’s lyric.
I’m told dogs prefer reggae so here’s a dub mix for Halloween to soothe your beast:
For a brief moment I thought it would be Tubular Bells Dub.
