I remember the travelling carnival that would arrive in my suburb every year had an Elvis impersonator do this while performing in the gravitron.

They had a simpler version of that ride at Worlds of Fun where the floor drops while you stick to the side. I am not a big ride guy, but I liked that.

I saw a worker do this as a kid. Turned out part of his job was apparently to yell at anyone else who so much as tried to prop themselves up on their elbows, and stop the ride if they wouldn’t lay back down.
