People are confusing real life with court.
People get fired or banned all the time due to their actions, even if they aren’t necessarily illegal. And even if they were illegal, a conviction wasn’t necessary to fire them.

Chan culture escaped into the general population, and what we’re now trapped in is this amazing reality where it’s all for the lulz, it’s all just memes, and if you don’t get it - as most of the population clearly doesn’t - that’s still more lulz. They’re exploiting the legacy media policy of being dispassionate, objective, and civil, and not using words like, ‘fucking idiots’ and ‘pure horseshit’. They’re sea-lioning the public dialogue into meaninglessness.
It’s like trying to play chess with someone that says knocking all the pieces off the board means they win, but they also win if you walk away. And if you tell them to just STFU that definitely means they win, plus they’re a victim

No, they’re definitely assholes.
I’m saying they found a vulnerability in the social contract. They realized if a big chunk of the citizenry simply abandons it as a group, there’s really nothing that can be done.
Or from another angle, a certain percentage of any sampling has always been assholes, but they lacked the critical mass to be loud and proud about it.

Have been sporadically checking in on Brand since his Trews days and it’s been a really sad decline.
The saying ‘How can someone so smart be so dumb’ really applies - and this is just his media content.
His personal life is yet another facet - I guess we will see what becomes of these allegations and whether some kind of justice occurs.

There’s a school of thought which holds that Brand deliberately pivoted to the far right to cultivate a loyal, credulous audience who would believe that the accusations are a deep state plot to silence him.
