For someone with Antipodean tendencies, doesn’t it seem odd that I’ve never played rugby, but did play a couple of games as nose-tackle for a fun gridiron team before I dropped some weight?
Is it too late to vote for Morris dancer?
Indochino (from Vancouver) charges $500-$600 for a fully custom, perfectly fit suit I seem to recall? More expensive than off the rack, but damn don’t well fitted clothes feel and look good?
(Plus you only need one, and they last like twenty years)
Not far off, but maybe the build has slipped a bit these days?
Maybe I should go for Armani instead as we’re firmly in the realms of fantasy here? But if I had a large amount of surplus, doesn’t booking a flight to Hong Kong and spending a week or three getting fitted out there sound good?
Errm, apparently so? Would a t-shirt that doesn’t look like a crop-top count?
Dude, brooks brothers is a grand and armani is $3k+, and off the rack is $400 and don’t they look like crap?
Do they? Why’s that then?
LOL, can you tell I’m completely out of my depth here?
Has it been obvious I’ve only lurked this part of the thread since I’ve owned precisely one suit in 45 years, I outgrew it 25 years ago, and have neither needed nor wanted one since? And that I hope to God those circumstances don’t change since I really have no idea what could possibly look good on me?
/questions off
For men like us, off the rack jackets tend to have ‘wings’. As in when we get tall they get really, really wide. This also happens to super skinny guys, and isn’t flattering.
Off the rack pants almost always, for men like us, poof out at the pocket. So while we aren’t fat, they make us look like walking squid. Also if they aren’t tailored they either drag on the ground or look like we are abounding high water.
For us tall dudes, tight fitting jackets with wide shoulders, and straight no pleat pants are most fetching.
Under no circumstance wear a double breasted coat. Unless it is an am Capone Halloween costume.
See what I look like on this no-more-casual-than-any-other-weekday Friday? And I’m a department head?!
I think for me, it’s a bit like watching car shows about supercars? Like, I’m not going to own anything they drive, but I might one day see one IRL but even that doesn’t actually matter?
Would it be embarrassing to admit I am totally stoked to have bought about 5 years worth of reasonable looking plain cotton T-shirts the other day for 59c each as a bulk order?
Finally you turnip, and that’s all you’ve got?
You aren’t going to forget your pants, right?
Is that the statement you wish to make?
Did I just mention the threat of Sutherlanding to someone outside of this thread? Does this mean it’s a thing now?
Isn’t it truly a thing when someone outside the thread references it?
e.g.
Aren’t there some gems out there in the college / community radio world? While it veers into territory that I don’t always appreciate, am I not a big fan of KFJC? Is anyone else here familiar with the Norman Bates Memorial Soundtrack Show? … Why am I still awake?
Why did I eat so many Apocalypse Wings?
And doesn’t it look like a lovely day, with highs in the lower-to-mid 4000s?
