It sounds interesting to me. But I think that if one is seriously invested in democracy, the best approach is to learn how to make democratic institutions - instead of hoping to find them ready-made. There are many on the right and left alike who see that classic nation-state as not having much of a future to it.
Again, it seems like you replied to me about this initially instead of @Mister44 who you were quoting. Your concerns I think are worth discussing, but I don’t know how much they have to do with the South Park game.
In a market-driven system your worth, your power, and your influence IS measured in dollars.
now that I read the log, yes,
Exactly, and the converse also applies. Internalizing those measures traps one into a market-driven system.
Really? Lawsuits, share holder meetings (one share gets you in), protests outside their office, your dollars/boycotts, and since governments still actually exist, government entities that provide oversight.
I feel the people have a lot more direct power over corporations if they have the will to apply it. For MOST things I am not forced to use one thing or another. I have to obey my government (or move, I guess, but that isn’t very practical and way less convenient than say giving up Apple products.)
Government change takes much longer. If a scandal happens mid-term a politician can often weather it by the time the chance to vote them out comes around. We elected Trump, for Christs sake, so neither entity is free from causing one woe. If I had to give more power to one master, it would be the one I don’t have to legally obey.
That is one reason why I’d never want actual Communism - where the state has the means of production. You think shit sucks now. Wait until they build cars with all of the care and love of an average DMV worker
That would have been, good, but the topic is probably too old to skewer now. They missed their opportunity last season.
My one more recent criticism is that they have been doing a serial story line the last two seasons. In both cases, it really was not needed. One could have had a multi-episode story line to make the same point, while freeing up more episodes to go after a larger variety of things.
Then again, like I said, unlike nearly ever other show on TV, the creative forces have been small and consistent. Maybe Trey Parker is in sort of a “safe” rut and not challenging himself as much.
Pretty sure its a BBS glitch that happens some times.
That’s what Stalin wanted everyone to believe. I chose to not believe that
