But he’s so clever, and he’s trollin’ us libs! He’s laughing at us, so clearly he’s deserving of admiration… cause being a bully is something to strive for apparently… /s

Seriously, all he’s doing is making the world a meaner, smaller, and more harsh place. And there are still people who look up to him (for some god forsaken reason) and seek to emulate him. It’s depressing how little some care for others.

[ETA] Posted wrong thing in wrong thread… my apologies!

What I meant HERE was that he’s long been a self-absorb dick by this point, and “It’s a joke” isn’t a particular good defense for that.

I worked at Bed, Bath & Beyond (BBB) and will confirm the following:

• Yes, the “Beyond” did mean an eternity in purgatory.
• Yes every BB&B building was designed to resemble ancient Satanic temples
• Yes every employee had to swear allegiance to Satan himself and sacrifice part of his paycheck to the Dark Lord.
• Yes you can use multiple 20% off coupons per visit.
• Yes the towels were woven from the body hair of the damned.
• The code for the bathroom is always 666Bed Bath Beyond_extteaser_0 (1)

Norman Solomon’s critique of Dilbert was dismissed at the time as shrill and humorless

but Solomon was entirely correct about Scott Adams

When I was 17 and dumb I took a class on being a clown. True story. It wasn’t much of a class, and it was not my high point of Clowning*. In fact, this was something of a low point. Clown Fail. For our “graduation” we dressed up and went to San Diego’s Balboa Park to show off our (non-existent) stuff. I was trying to blow up a balloon for a kid but I hadn’t practiced with these particular balloons and this little hard rubber motherfucker was not expanding. I huffed and puffed at it, trying to be all comical and clownlike but this was a non-inflatable little item. I’m kinda panicking, but trying to honor the red nose society. Kid turns to mom and says, “Mom, what’s he doing?” and mom says “He’s trying to be funny, dear.” I was humiliated.

Somehow this article reminds me of that story. “What’s he doing? Is he trying to be funny?”

*That would be the time, 40 years later, when I dressed as a scary clown for Halloween and made a toddler cry

Dilbert is a Trump supporter who likes to pretend to be neutral.

The difference between your experience and what Adams is doing is light years apart. You were making a good faith effort to actual make some kids laugh - actual comedy is tough, especially if you’re not using tired, boring, and demeaning tropes. Adams, who has a pretty big platform, is punching down on anyone who is not a white man and spreading dangerous conspiracy theories that not an insignificant number of voting Americans believe in right now. Even if he’s joking around, not only is it NOT funny, it’s doing material harm to the country and the world.

What’s NOT a joke is his support for the current president.

Some streets don’t have odd and even numbers on opposite sides, like Downing Street.

Maybe it’s the same where Satan lives.
