Actual jellyfish float in awe at GOP house rep David Joyce.
(excerpt)
Stephanopoulos: “That’s a remarkable statement, you just said you would support a candidate who’s come out for suspending the Constitution?”
Joyce: “Well, you know, [Trump] says a lot of things."
The GOP’s base is aware of and has no problem with the “Two-Face Strategy” (see: SCOTUS nominee deliberations). This little play if performed again would speak to 2024 and only meant to lure back the fence-sitters scared off by Trumpism.
When I read Trump’s post the other day, I was actually rendered speechless. There’s so much going on there.
First of all, it was inspired by the nothingburger “controversy” based on releases of internal Twitter communications with political entities (including his own White House). He’s apparently upset that Twitter wasn’t just working for him, alone.
Second, that he’s upset about “fraud,” that’s unspecified and apparently not anything that was actually, you know, illegal, because otherwise he’d have some legal case here; the laws would be working for him. But he doesn’t, it’s just… feelings? So based on his feelings, he thinks we should get rid of all laws, rules, and the very legal structures that make up the country.
Third, that his response to someone supposedly breaking the rules is just… no rules. He’s really showing that what he wants is so outside legal or constitutional boundaries that the only way he can get it is if there are no rules. Just chaos, over which he rules purely by whim. This is, in many ways, the most honest glimpse of Trump yet…
Basically he wants to be the President of Trump supporters. Which is exactly what he thought he was when he was in the White House…
Especially aggravating when it is happening here, right now. That mindset has gone from Pollyannaish to outright denial of reality.
He wants to make all his enemies suffer violent deaths, and he wants to be the one doing it. Terminating the constitution doesn’t just mean all the rules of law for our country are gone, it means all the offices are too. The government would no longer exist. He wants to rule by fiat, without any checks or balances, and be free to use the full arsenal of what was the US military against anyone he desires.
Even Putin acknowledges a constitution for Russia and goes through frivolous, corrupt motions to change it at his whim. This Cheeto-looking-asshole seems to just advocate for anarchy under the assumption that he will come out on top and rule over an America previously ruled by laws because …I don’t know, he thinks everyone loves him? Does he think when someone has declared himself leader everyone bends the knee? Really it’s because he is stupid. Stupid. The man is stupid.
And for the first time, I think he is really, truly scared. Back a Machiavellian, Narcissist, Sociopath who isn’t very smart into a corner, this is what you get.
I assume that it’s a waste of time to note the sheer incoherence of attempting to justify the termination of ‘all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the constitution’ on the basis of alleged fraud that is only fraudulent in the context of those same rules?
