Trade deals can be a hard sell. On Freakonomics they did a segment on NAFTA and the economist they were talking to said the benefits of NAFTA net out to around $100 / American every year. To get that benefit, thousands of people lost their jobs as manufacturing moved to Mexico. It’s not unreasonable for people to say they would rather have the jobs than the money. There’s no right or wrong position to hold…
