Doritos thinks women don't like to eat crunchy chips in public, so it's making a new “lady-friendly” version

What happens when a woman says it, such as in this case were " PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi said that while women would like… "

Still a fail?

Yes, of course it is. Of course women themselves can think of women in stereotypical ways… because we are human. Assuming that all women are free from prejudicial thinking about their gender still ignores the fact that women are human and as such susceptible to such thinking.

I will say that my definition of people is wide enough that there are no rules of behaviour that are universally appropriate for an audience with differing cultural expectations.

Some of the nastiest fights I’ve seen are about people’s very different and very deeply held ideas about how “people” should be treated.

Rather than impose my beliefs on how people should be treated upon everyone (i.e. just treating everyone as just people), I will continue to observe and cater my responses to the groups and individuals involved.

And I rather don’t think that respecting different groups interpretation of “people-hood” is treating them as exotic animals. The diversity of culture is such that establishing what being “treated with respect” means within the context of that culture requires observation and some small amount of discipline.

Pretending that decent treatment of all humanity is common sense and should come naturally usually often belies an unwarranted belief in the universality of one’s personal experience and needs. Something that took me years in the workplace (or would have taken a day on Tumblr) to learn.

Okay. clearly, you’re committed to making me seem like an idiot, so good day.

My apologies. I had no such intent. Probably my pedantic nature at work. Again, sorry.

Yes. My excuse is that I was also getting pestered by my kid to come and throw him on the air mattress.

Women, like men, need a variety of major sources of satisfaction in their lives.

A male friend of mine - who I’d like to note has never actually met me in person - tagged only me and his wife in a post about these chips. I’m not sure whether to be offended or amused.
