Oh wow, that first article is a supremely bad take. “Isn’t it a pity we didn’t bomb Syria right before the rise of ISIS” is an opinion so disconnected from reality that it’s hard to take anything else in the article seriously. They’re essentially saying
“Okay, so every other time we went with the bomb first and ask questions later approach,and it went terribly , but this one time we went through the proper channels and it was voted down would totally have worked, believe me.”
