Dune part 2 teaser

Seems to be hinted at already in flashforward scenes. Villeneuve knows that Paul is bad news and so (in his movie) did Paul. Hollywood is surely going to be just fine with Messiah being the third part of a blockbuster trilogy.

The problem is how to deal with the boring soap opera “Children” before we get to the batshit wonders of “God Emperor”. I love how all this is going to keep Jason Momoa busy for a decade.

Didn’t I see that it’s not being released until November?

I loved “Children”, despite it being a bit of a slog. Alia is absolutely unhinged and terrifying and Paul II’s transformation is… beautiful, actually. I was warned off of “God Emperor”, but with your endorsement I’ll give it a shot.

And yeah, Momoa as a Tleilaxu ghola should be bonkers. Especially if they show the conversion/revival process.

If I may… I can see from where I am sittin’ the six-volume row, from “Dune” to “Chapter House:Dune”. First three are good, the rest you can forget. Obviously there’s some good bits in them, but I can still remember being rather disappointed - and the last two had a distinct “why am I reading this” vibe.
And yet I cannot help wondering how a movie version would be. Like Bashar Beschizza says, 'tis batshit stuff.

And the book cover is fantastic.

Man, I really hate that vaguely Middle-Eastern singing, though. I thought we were done with that in the 2010s. Always seemed more than a bit derogatory to me.

That Fatboy Slim video makes total sense now. When he was doing his “walk without rhythm” dance he was also wearing suspensors, like Baron Harkonnen!

Well, in some ways Frank Herbert subverted the story with Dune, It was a deconstruction of the whole “Civilized man goes native and makes the savage natives an effective force” trope.

Huh, so they’re going black and white for the scenes with Feyd-Rautha? Interesting stylistic choice, or is it a flashback?

Well, I wouldn’t quite call it that!

It’s 500 pages of superhuman weirdos debating politics with a chumbox ad.

Civilized natives go out and make the effective man a savage force" is a good summary of Dune on that level.
