Thanks Rob for posting an ever so rare thing at BB – a headline with Harris’s name in it!
(Instead of yet another with that of he who perhaps shouldn’t be headlined so very, very often.)
Oh I don’t think this particular pork rasher will be able to resist having his deputies “”“assist”“” at polling places on election day.
I assume this thug is yet another “Constitutional” sheriff (AKA SovCit with a gun and badge).
Apparently he is up for re-election this year. Here’s hoping Portage County voters follow the county board of elections and remove him from his job.
I think the title should use stronger wording. Instead of “won’t”, it ought to read, “is not allowed to”.
I’m happy that, at least, more neutral people are being brought in to handle security.
This asshole is entitled to his (shitty) opinion, but he completely failed at his job here. He should be reprimanded, probably even fired for this kind of bullshit. Certainly not up for re-election. He’s failed the people he swore to serve (whether THEY care or not).
I like the fact that in Pennsylvania it is a criminal offense for a police officer or sheriff/deputy to be in a polling place except while they are actively voting or if they have been called to the site by an election official.
Agreed. “Won’t” suggests he refused to do it. “Not allowed” makes it clear that others rightfully didn’t trust him to do it.
Thirded.
So why is he not being sacked? He is obviously unable to fulfilbhis role as an impartial officer.
It’s an elected position. Just another weirdass thing about America to toss on the pile.
If it wasn’t an elected position, a police union (the only kind of union American conservatives love) would have his back.
I think most SovCits have (real) guns and many have (made up) badges…
Unfortunately, I work in the county and I don’t think that’s likely to happen. He carried a pretty large margin when he got elected and has spent the last 4 years mixing official duties and campaigning with no consequences. His slate of candidates in the primary (where he was unopposed, but put his name on all the signs) managed to take out one of the state reps and one of the county commissioners.
