That’s weird, they lay a billion eggs. Wouldn’t farming them be pretty easy?
I’ve been to ponds after a fresh hatch and there are a bajillion tadpoles (though in that case, the fish just get really fat for awhile.)
They grow very slowly. The European species used for food take 2-3 years to reach adulthood. Also, they’re not easy to feed, mainly requiring live prey.
Some frogs are farmed for meat, though, mainly American bullfrogs in Asia.
That makes sense, as I think the tadpoles I remember were bull frogs. Those suckers can get big!
