To Trump I sayβ¦
Well, Rush Limbaugh isnβt dead yet.
Wait, no John McCain?
I watched the animated movie. Itβs good.
I should get that too!
Itβs a great concept, thoughβ¦ what if Superman landed in the Soviet Union instead of Kansas.
But what if he was raised in Germany?
Red Son was a great read. I also enjoyed the animated feature.
Obvs, Dean Cain never heard of this one! F that guy!
IIRC they changed the movie ending so the political message would be palatable to a mass audience
The comic book had not been afraid to just β¦ promote authoritarian communism, basically
I have not read it yet, so I canβt really comment on the messagingβ¦ could it be that they were attempting to flip the perspective to examine American ideology and how itβs problematic to blindly embrace it as well? Because, honestly, thatβs sort of what Superman was all about for much of itβs early run, right? Truth, justice, and the American way, embraced uncritically?
I thought the Shadows were the leftists on that show
Wouldnβt they be all about tearing down statues?
Itβs worth getting them both and comparing them
It reminds me a little of how Animal Farm is always watered down for adaptations
Yeah, itβs been on my want to get list for a while nowβ¦
In any case heβs not supposed to be using the Air Force as a halftime show at his campaign rallies
Oh, shit.
βWhat do you want?β
βMake Centauri Prime great again.β
Surprisingly, animated series and movies are an area where DC does excel.
12. "Our children are taught in school to hate their own country and to believe that the men and women who built it were not heroes, but that were villains."
I took a peek at the my kidsβ curriculum just to double check this so I can now officially say there is nothing in there about hating America.
No.
The Shadow/Vorlon conflict doesnβt neatly map onto our left-right political axis. The Shadows loved to control others, and encouraged war, chaos and conflict without care for the death and destruction it caused. As far as they were concerned, the survivors would be stronger as a result, and thus, the universe would be Made Great Again.
That makes a Shadow ship flyover an absolutely perfect image for Trump. Kudos, @RickMycroft! >chefβs kiss<
(And no, the Vorlons werenβt exactly good guys either. If the Shadows represented Chaos, the Vorlons preferred Order-- traditional to the point of stasis, and complete obedience to the Vorlons. They had a tendency to vaporize entire planets they felt were overly influenced by the Shadows.)
(If we talk about this any more, it should be in that Nerd Debates topic. Iβm going to go make sure itβs Open for business.)
