To be fair, Gene Simmons can’t help being an absolute ass anymore than a zebra can help having stripes. It’s just who he is.
I think that’s my second favorite Terry Gross interview; her contempt for him shines through the whole thing. My favorite Terry Gross moment was when she asked Justin Timberlake, " So…how are you bringing sexy back?" and he was just adorably befuddled and human, stumbling around and trying to come up with a good answer.

Listen to Paul Stanley’s stage banter. Dude ain’t right. I can’t imagine Criss being all that great himself; he being a. A member of Kiss and b. A drummer. They’re mainly weird, in my experience.
You can add Mike Love to that list as well. (As if the world needed another reason to think he’s an asshole.)
ETA sometimes I struggle to separate the art from the artist, sometimes it’s easy. I actually really like some of KISS’s material so this is really saddening. Ted Nugent may be a great guitarist but I can’t listen to him after all the shit he’s pulled. Kanye West is at that “can no longer listen to” point for me too. Kid Rock sucks even if he wasn’t a Trumpist, so whatever. I’ve long known about Mike Love’s political leanings and he’s never tried to hide it (the irony of him claiming to be a huge environmentalist while supporting Trump isn’t lost on me), but his music with The Beach Boys is incredibly important to me so I force myself to overlook it. I sure as fuck won’t ever support him by going to any of his live shows.

It’s easier for me with musicians than it is with actors, at least. It’s sad that with actors it adds that cringe moment that knocks me out of the immersion of the story.

Pretty much anything with Jon Voight is like that for me. (Doubly so if it’s anything done after his heel turn to the far right in the late 2000s.)
