to be fair to american politics, that’s always been the differentiation between the president and the rest of the party. especially people in the house.

you’re “supposed” to be above the fray the higher you go, and the rest of the party is supposed to do your dirty work.

itd normally be the vp playing that role of free talking, more direct truth to power during normal times. and ive been looking forward to harris v pence for that reason.

( trump of course inverted all that. he’s the noise, instead of being above the noise. )
