Cohen is a masterful troll, the likes of which the world has never seen.
This whole sequence of events was clearly planned after thinking through what Rudy’s likely responses would be.
- Months ago: Rudy says Cohen tried to get him, but failed. “He didn’t get me”
- Cohen lets it stew a few months, people are aware they had an altercation, but Giuliani’s version of events are left in public with little comment
- 2 weeks before election day: Screenshots with a description of the interaction, which roundly debunk Giuliani’s version are released
- Giuliani releases a new summary of the encounter, which contradicts his previous one. Tries to spin the screenshots to put them into a different context.
- Tomorrow: The video is released to the world, which will again contradict Giuliani’s previous two accounts of the events
Giuliani’s accounting of events will be circulated around in right wing media and get lots of exposure. Setting the stage for the reveal which will burn to toast any defense Giuliani has come up with.
Seems like Cohen timed this to extract bullshit justifications from the right wing personalities for defending what seems to be sexually predatory behavior, so he could publicly destroy them all 11 days before election day.
