Likewise. And the prevalence of t-words in the AITA subreddit is one reason I look at user histories and details, but even then I’m not immune to being taken in. I still don’t think I was on this one, despite the cartoonishnish of the Karen. I could well be wrong.

I think it’s real. For some reason certain people think criticizing another’s food cannot be racist. Like, it just doesn’t occur to them that saying curry stinks and no one wants to smell it would be racist.
I hope the victim starts documenting every interaction with the Karen. She should e-mail herself a factual account after every incident.

Yup. I personally know several people who’ve run afoul of the curry stereotype. I know a lot of people who enjoy making and eating curry (including yours truly), but those who get grief for it are invariable Indian or Asian.

If you go through the full series of tweets, the Karen is related by marriage to the founder. Although we’re only seeing one side, if what we’re seeing is true, it’s difficult to imagine any justification for the Karen’s behavior.
