That was a really interesting interview.
I really don’t understand it, but I’ll never wonder again how 1938 happened in Germany. The cowardice is contagious. I think there’s a sort of conspiracy of cowardice—when everyone’s a coward, you don’t feel like a coward.
I like that he goes there. For some reason it’s still a big taboo to point out the really obvious parallels to the rise of the Nazis just because the Republicans haven’t killed 6 million people over their ethnicity, sexual orientation, politics or health yet (which of course the Nazis hadn’t either at that point). And the thing about contagious cowardice is a way I haven’t thought about this before.
It’s also really chilling that he is convinced that the party will not go back to normal without bloodshed.

We are really in the late 1920’s. The real work was done then by indoctrinating and activating literally millions of brownshirts and SS, boots on the ground. Once they had that, not even the military could stop them,
That said, if things continue as they are, and they achieve that critical mass of actual military force outside the traditional military, we could easily be looking at concentration camps by 2028 or 2032.

What I want to hear is Trump’s plan for helping the millions of people who owe multiple months of back-rent, and who will be evicted the split second they stop deferring it. Granted, his answer will probably just be printing more money to pay it off.
