🍊🍊🍊🤡🤡 Even More Trumpian Events 🤡🤡🍊🍊🍊 (Part 1)

I’m actually less surprised by the revelation that they had an antisemite conspiracy loon scheduled to speak than by their decision to dis-invite that speaker after she was exposed as such.

Spoiler: it was a QAnon pin.

For fuck sake.

Are we sure it’s not a Hydra pin?

Philomena Cunk says it best (this is from 2015). “Someday we’ll be watching this in a documentary with ominous music.”

Same here; I didn’t think it was even still possible to sink low enough to get disinvited.

Bonus: Trump himself had previously stated the now-disinvited speaker should “never be silenced.”

It’s telling that this was the one thing bad enough to get dis-invited. Mary Ann Mendoza was fine as long as it was just fear and hatred of immigrants she was stoking. The absence of the thing coalesces into the shape of the thing. When you are trying to be Hitler, and don’t want people to know you are trying to be Hitler, you take the most Hitler thing and make it taboo.

The focus is meaningless, though, pragmatically.

If Germany had at that time a large Black, Middle Eastern, and Hispanic minorities, Hitler would have been have chosen Black, Middle Eastern, and Hispanic people as the prime focus of hate, instead of the Jewish minority. Had he, the pablum wouldn’t sound any different than Trump. It’s an inherent racism in the audience that makes it SEEM different, simply because of the groups “othered”.

So, the absence of open antisemitism just outs them further for what they are. They aren’t any less biased against Jewish Americans, they are just avoiding the association with Nazism. They picked the people most “other” in the American mind, just like Hitler did in Germany.

on the comments of that twitter post someone thinks its a flag pin with a presidential logo on it. These people are awful and totally are egging on the Qanon BS, but in this particular case that might not be what that is. It sucks that we the good guys have to try to fight fair and tell the truth all the time when these arseholes can lie and distract all day long, but that’s how it works. (If someone can conclusively prove its a Qanon pin I’ll take it back)

I hate that lazy use of refute, so common in news headlines. I doubt that they offer any rational argument to support their position beyond “NO, YOU!”, so they mean dispute. And they’re wrong.

I was unaware the the SPLC operated under the auspices of the RNC. Who knew? (/s)

Fucking right. That is absolutely into ‘kick in the nuts’ territory.

The situations aren’t really parallel. FDR might have been able to get his court-packing plan through, but it was overcome by events. WIllis Van Devanter retired from the bench, and Owen Roberts was persuaded to switch his vote on several pending New Deal cases. Support for the plan fell apart once there were no longer five justices voting en bloc against New Deal reforms.

I suspect that, in the unlikely event that there’s a Biden election and not a civil war in the coming months, that there could be a parallel as well. Imagine if, say, Clarence Thomas were to announce his retirement alongside Breyer and Ginsburg. How much support would there be for expanding the Court if Biden had the opportunity to replace a conservative justice along with the two retiring liberals?

This is the thing that sometimes gets missed in attacking Trump. Cheating on the SAT’s is just the kind of break-the-system, rogue-operative against the SYSTEM, trickster-god bullshit that sociopath-libertarians are very horny for. If there’s value in at least demoralizing these folks, if not flipping them, it would be in showing how much of a tool of the system Donald is, and focusing on his abject failures. Of course, constantly reminding the middle-left and he’s-not-so-bad Democrats that they need to stay frosty with this punk is also important, but I hope they’re getting wise to both angles.

I’m surprised she didn’t just deck him right there. That guy is a scumbag but I’ve seen this kind of faux woke racism which justifies racist positions with ‘woke’ language. It’s quite disgusting.

That doesn’t make any sense. Why would he wear something like that? He’s not president (yet). What he has been is a vocal supporter of QAnon and has worn this pin in the past (a flag with a Q on it). Maybe not the proof you’re looking for but I have no reason to doubt this.
