This was nice. Made me feel weirdly nostalgic even thou I´m not from the USSR.

A comment on the YouTube posting said these graphics were produced with the Bosch FGS-4000 video effects system (introduced 1983). For those interested, here’s a demo reel of FGS-4000 TV animations.

there’s quite a few of the “animal cards”. what were they used for?

My guess is that they were dividers between programmes. I remember from my childhood that we had something similar in german television back in the day.
