No one appreciates featheres the way fly fishermen do! Below is a New England style streamer pattern meant to look like a small stocker brown trout. Itβs got pheasant tippet for the orange tail, cock pheasant tail fibres for the wing, Chinese rooster hackles under the wing to add body, black ostrich plumes for the veil and real(!) jungle cock nails for the eyes. When it gets wet in the water it becomes iridescent and the feather fibres (or barbules) have a subtle movement that modern hard baits often lack.
