Let’s not forget the Mandalorian Weaponer dumping that stormtrooper into the smelter.
If it can melt Beskar, just think what it can do to flesh.

Same, although you USians seem to have more corporate overlords to choose from than us Brits.
I’ll nominate Doctor Who. Though the terms “resurrected”, “dead”, “after”, and “cancellation” are all a bit wibbly wobbly.
Ahem.
It is soooo good!
"He eats all their brains
And he gnaws on their bones
Was never too bright
Now he’s dead as the stonesOur love for this idea’s not hard to explain
Who could resist him, our zombie called Jayne!"
I’m sorry/not sorry, I couldn’t resist. I’ll see myself out. And no, I didn’t write it, I only wish I had.
Yeah I’m not so sure that network TV’s idea of PG-13 is too far off even Disney’s idea of PG. Especially on a streaming service where there be no regulations or MPAA involved.
The only thing I can really think of that probably wouldn’t pass muster some of the nasty things Mal says to Inara at one point. Maybe some visible blood.
I already know tons of people who treat this show as as family viewing as it is.
Aside from The Mandalorian, the OT has a guy getting dismembered in a bar fight.
Reminds me a bit of the expectation that Disney will “ruin” the Deadpool movies by making them PG-13. When those films are anything but a hard R. If what a person really likes there is the 3 extra fucks they work in or the kinda cringy pegging joke I dunno if we should be taking their opinion all that seriously.
I’m still struggling with how they could make Reavers family friendly. What, do they cuddle their victims into submission, then make popcorn?
Checking that it’s not April 1…no… I’ll be in my bunk…
me too; shouldnt be a problem then to find it “elsewhere”. it took me a minute.
Maybe I never found the Reavers particularly frightening or extreme to begin with. But let’s all remember this:
Appears in a Disney owned family film currently hosted on Disney plus.
A character directly describing them as rapists isn’t (and shouldn’t be) necessary to make them threatening.
Also, again. Network TV, broadcast network TV. In a crap time slot, but a prime time one. By all accounts bother the lateness, and the crapness of the time slot weren’t a reaction to maturity of content and the show was produced to air earlier in the night. Even the film was PG-13 and there’s an immediately noticeable uptick in practically everything that contributes to a higher rating.
Unlike real life,* the great thing about fiction is that nobody can make you accept “canon” you don’t want to accept.
* Unless you’re a Republican, in which case you’re busy trying to retcon real life right this minute.
as I was finding it “elsewhere” I saw that the first 3 episodes of the fifth season of THE EXPANSE is already online; thanks meliz, my futile eXistenZ has meaning again
At some point, anyway; judging from some of the other responses you got, it does not seem to be all that well regarded amongst the fandom
Strange thing is…I saw the movie first and was pretty blown away, then saw the show and loved it even more; its far from perfekt, but its a good ride and very fine conclusion to the series. highly regarded and high recommendation.
…and Jean Luc Picard!
The general rule for SyFy is “movies bad, series/miniseries good”. They’re quite consistent with it. For example, their Dune and Children of Dune miniseries were excellent! And yes, BSG was amazing.
Otherwise, however, the movies are almost always very blatantly, intentionally bad. I mean, Anaconda 6?!
I thought the last Tick incarnation was well done, as was She-Ra. And Justice League was better than Superfriends.
The last She-ra was pretty tight; it’s even tolerable for an adult to watch, in my opinion. And damn straight Justice League pwnt Stuporfriends (except for Superfriends’ announcer, who was freaking amazing)!
“Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice…”
That’s the accepted wisdom, but at one point twenty years ago the rule was that comic book movies are universally awful. Why get preemptively disappointed in something that might be enjoyable?
You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have… a reboot-able IP.
come to think of it…could it be possible you missed the whole point?
“I show you a world without sin…”
It would be kind of weird if the crew had three dead people to pay respects to but buried the one guy way off by himself just because he happened to keep a sexbot in his house.
But it’s Disney. No power in the 'verse can stop them.
