Chiropractic can be a legitimate practice for certain types of back issues, sporting injuries and issues with bone alignment. As a kid, I loved my old chiropractor who helped with my scoliosis.
It really is sad that so many chiropractors in America and elsewhere treat chiropractic as if it is some kind of panacea for all of one’s ills, promising cures for all sorts of chronic illnesses that have nothing even to do with the skeletomuscular system at all. These charlatans have made a mockery out of a profession that can be genuinely useful if you ever throw your back out or find yourself walking with a bad limp.
Canada would never be involved in capitalist health care fraud.
“ The application process involves listing the “medicinal” ingredients of your product, along with their quantities and potencies (aside: how do you measure the quantity and potency of something that doesn’t exist?) as well as this: “information that supports the safety and efficacy of the natural health product when it is used in accordance with the recommended conditions of use.”
Notice that the condition is for “information,” not “evidence.” That’s likely because there is no evidence that homeopathic products work other than as placebos. Which is fine — it’s great, in fact, if homeopathy works for some people. But that doesn’t mean Health Canada should classify it as medicine.”
“ “The chiropractic community has a long history of anti-vax rhetoric,” said Timothy Caulfield, a Canada Research Chair in Health Law and Policy based in Alberta.
Jason Busse, an associate professor with McMaster University, says chiropractors aren’t qualified to give vaccine advice, but many still provide their patients with information, which can be harmful.
“Speaking as a chiropractor [myself], I would not go to myself for information on vaccines,” he said.”
Uncritically and universally proclaiming all chiropractic to be a “legitimate practice” is unwarranted, though, especially given that it is founded on non-science.
The vitalism that is foundational to chiropractic is a false, pre-scientific idea of physiology. (You can refer to my earlier post for citations about how vitalism and subluxation are still very much part of “modern” chiropractic.)
OK FGD135 , my point is Chiropratic is a legitimate pratice. The fact some asshole employs their credientials to circumvent wearing a mask is , like I said, the American Capitalist Dream. Bring in the suckers and losers and fleet them.
Throwing the Chiropratic profession under the SJW bus just seems ignorant and irresponsible like a Republican govenor might spew.
?
You already said that…
Anyway, if I’m reading your posts right, I agree. As others here have said, chiropractic efforts can help with some problems. Throwing the whole profession under the bus (not the S J W bus, whatever that’s supposed to mean-- and, thanks, but no need to explain) because of the weirdness and woo promoted by some is simplistic stereotyping at best.
