Well here is a bit more detail on Cherizier and what his actual goals are… It’s clear that he certainly SEES himself as a revolutionary, even if others do not. He’s certainly not wrong about some of the root causes of Haiti’s deep problems (the elite class taking what they can out of the mouths of the working poor in Haiti).
And I’m wondering if the recent round of violence these past few days in more elite communities are part of the larger power struggle between these armed groups?

It seems so. For those who couldn’t afford to flee, even though they had more than most, it underscores that there is no safe place.
The UN has estimated that gangs currently control more than 80 percent of Port-au-Prince.
It seems to me that gang leaders wanting revolution won’t stop until they’ve wiped out all the “haves,” especially those who want outside intervention.

Yep. And they’re not wrong that interventionism has been a major problem in Haiti since… Haiti was an independent nation. I’m not sure that this isn’t just about them consolidating power so that they can rule over the country, though.
