Former Trump advisor John Bolton: "I am not part of whatever drug deal Rudy and Mulvaney are cooking up.”

Oh sure, I’m not trying to defend Bolton. He’s an awful person and needs to be kept the hell away from any position of power. But he’s different flavor of awful than the scum that has gathered around Trump, and that may, with a little luck, end up harming the Orange One.

Well when you’re standing next to Trump, you sure look like a stable genius.

The FBI is investigating whether Sacramento-area marijuana businesses paid off public officials in exchange for favorable treatment and license approvals, The Sacramento Bee reported Monday.

The Bee previously reported that pot shop operator Garib Karapetyan and his associates accumulated licenses for eight capital-area dispensaries. Karapetyan’s associates include Ukrainian-born businessman Andrey Kukushkin. Kukushkin was arrested in San Francisco last week after he and three other men, including Rudy Giuliani associates Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, were indicted in New York on charges of funneling foreign campaign contributions to U.S. politicians. They’re also accused of using campaign money to attempt to enter the burgeoning marijuana business.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports Kukushkin has held interests in a San Francisco pot shop, and is seeking permits to turn “a 92-acre palatial estate into a sprawling pot farm” in Livermore. In response to my inquiry, the Bureau of Cannabis Control, which licenses weed operations, identified 12 Karapetyan pot businesses in which Kukushkin is a partner. Most are Sacramento-area weed retailers. One is a company that disposes of waste from weed operations, promising to compost it. Another is a cannabis distribution service based in in Coalinga.

“I am not part of whatever drug deal Sondland and Mulvaney are cooking up”
"I am not part of whatever drug deal Rudy and Mulvaney are cooking up”

Which one is correct? The BB headline or the article? Or did Bolton actually say both?

EDIT: Apparently “Rudy” was originally in the quote and was later countered by others to be “Sondland”. Damning either way, but factual details matter.

I’m predicting the next big gig economy company will be for food testers in Washington DC.

It doesn’t matter. Whichever one he said, he’s lying.

Or he can just ignore subpoenas, like everyone else in the Trump regime.

Like rats from a sinking ship, these are the Days of Our Lives.

No, I’m actually willing to believe Bolton here. As I’ve said before, he’s deeply awful, but he has sincere (bad, dangerous) beliefs. He’s a warmonger, a believer in the PNAC-style “Let’s spread democracy, capitalism and US hegemony with force of arms!” imperialism.

This Ukraine thing, if you ask me, is a wrong flavor of awfulness for Bolton to be willingly involved in. It’s sleazy, petty, corrupt and stupid in the face of it.

I agree. He probably fully supports the War on Some Drugs, and it’s likely a red-hot line in the sand for him.

Another one joins the resignation train. I wonder if they all meet in a gymnasium with chairs in a circle?
