Interesting, but how much of what do I need to ingest before I can really enjoy that?

Incredible work for 1929. It’s a tragedy that Jack Ellit’s original score was lost but I have another, contemporaneous recording of his that I have added to a video essay I began to make about New Zealand art, back in the day. Ellit’s work is incredible and deserves to be heard, especially in conjunction with Lye’s groundbreaking work (Tusalava starts @1.11). Interesting, underappreciated fact: Lye drew directly onto the celluloid for his animations. Incredible.

Lye is amazing. This one is sure to stay with you as well.
