‘Chief Twit’ Musk delivers bathroom furniture to Twitter HQ … but not Tesla results
Instead of delivering Tesla’s expected quarterly revenue, CEO Elon Musk decided to take a bathroom sink to the headquarters of Twitter, the social media platform he bid for in April.
The hamfisted prank coincided with the eve of the deadline to complete the $44 billion takeover of the popular social media platform, which at one point saw its value collapse 40 percent on the offer price. Musk has since attempted to abandon the deal, which he failed to do last month.
I still had a burner account I mostly just used to read posts from a few select users but I deleted it this morning just to make sure I am not supporting this debacle in any way, shape or form.
On the one hand - it’s going to be a complete Nazi shitshow online before the election. On the other hand - he’s going to lose tens of billions of dollars.
Everybody is talking about what he is going to do with Twitter but I haven’t yet seen any analysis how this will go down in other regulatory environments, such as the EU.
I don’t think the Commission will stand idly by when hate speech takes over the “town square”.
I expect some fines being levied, some grandstanding by Musk that he won’t pay and then him backing down when he realises that the EU absolutely will cut him out of the market if they want.
