Actually that is very possible. What he is doing here is trying to make Twitter like SpaceX and Tesla where very smart people will work for him out of personal loyalty and a belief that they are doing something great.
If you are not interested in his cult of personality he is not interested in having you there. It has nothing to do with how good you are, or anything like that. It just has to do with whether or not you are willing to go along with his madness.
The difference is that people who want to build rockets or electric cars only have a couple of other options. People who want to build websites have a billion options
just wait till he orders one of the remaining people - probably not even a programmer - to add some new feature, or to bring the blue check back.
i’m personally curious to see if it dies in pieces, a little bit at a time, or if it all just suddenly goes dark. interesting times
i never like letting them hang out on their own line anyway. just stick it offscreen at column 200 or so of the line before. more lines just slows the program down, so the smaller the better
They’re not the boss of anyone else in the Fediverse. If they want to remove BIPOC people from their own personal view of the world, oh well, bye.
(The only exception to that would be if they owned/controlled the particular site that you use, in which case, pack up your data, and move to a different one, which is relatively easy.)
By no means am I backing racist sites doing racist things to BIPOC, but I’m a furry, we’re full of marginalized classes of people, and the general usage of CW’s on Mastodon seems to be that you should error on the side of overuse of the CW block with proper tagging over anything. We CW different speices sometimes in our conversations. We CW all political talk. We CW sports talk. If it possibly bores, offends, or challenges any people in anyway , or it COULD, we CW it. Almost all my feed is full of CW’s on the most mundane things, and it’s likely something very shocking to people not used to CWing every single thing possible.
It certainly was to me, and I got chewed out because I didn’t CW a talk about being excited about the world cup and the US team’s chances with four starters in for the first time in the whole qualification cycle. I took about thirty-forty “WE CW SPORTS AS TRIGGERING IN THE FEDIVERSE” messages for that one.
My understanding is that Mastodon etiquette encourages the use of “content warning” tags to let users automatically filter out certain topics they aren’t interested in like “politics” or “sports.”
Oooo! A small morbid curiosity to check Scott Adams’ posts over the last few weeks. Musk would have been his Pointy-Haired Boss demi-god hero. And now if Twitter tanks, he’ll lose his Twitter influencer position.
He’s probably currently posting “Ha! Twitter is still up! Stupid sheeple!” while ignoring the oncoming fly-swatter.
I went to look for Bill Corbett’s anti-Dilbert crossbow post. Looks like he automatically deleted everything except some retweets from 2018 and a modified quote from Yeats’ “The Second Coming.”
