I’m going to try to remember that I want the one that sounds like Mario Batali.
Hey that’s not a marriage. That’s two beings leaping into an open pit, to be consumed together–wait a minute
It’s too bad the homophobic pasta maker is the one with the better graphic design on their boxes.
As far as major Italian pasta brand design is concerned, De Cecco is where it’s at.
First a War on Drugs, then a War on Terror. Now a Gay Pasta War. What the hell, America?
Actually, hm… OK. But stop the other two and concentrate on doing this one properly.
Yeah, the only real choices at my store are Barilla and Kroger, so I’ve always bought Kroger house brand. Now I feel I should look up who really manufactures Kroger pasta.
“Barilla’s vanilla; Bertolli’s unholy.”
Rather off topic, but that reminds me of the sentence (paraphrasing here), “You may call me Crowley if you think of me Holy or call me Crowley if you think of me foully.” Doubt that that was actually Aleister himself, but I cannot remember where I got that from…
By a certain view this is not correct and is in fact doing harm rather than doing good. According to the Talmud, shaming someone else in public is like shedding their blood. One should be careful about admonishing a friend even in private. If the friend wont understand the admonishment its better not to even say anything in the first place.
This isnt to say that the above is binding on all persons but rather just to show that there are different views on how to handle socially objectionable situations.
It’s a good thing ancient documents don’t dictate my behavior.
Be as snarky as you like but the point remains that what you propose isnt a universal standard.
Yeah, it’s not constructive to shame someone. But disagreeing with them isn’t shedding their blood, or any other bodily fluids.
Pro tip: don’t say “Hey, that’s racist”. Say, “Nah, that’s stupid” because racist, sexist, homophobic, or other malicious opinions are generally not too well grounded in evidence. Calling them out for being factually wrong (gently, if you prefer) is harder to dismiss than calling them out for “X-ism” or “Y-phobia”. It’s easy for a racist to revel in their daring non-politically-correct edgy sense of humour or political contrarianism. But nobody like being called stupid.
Of course it isn’t a universal standard for pretty much anything. People value all sorts of things. In some places, people mutilate their daughters’ genitals and they believe this is right.
If people didn’t have wildly different values, there wouldn’t be anything to talk about here. This issue exists because Mr. Barilla has different values from those of us who disagree with him.
Lots of old books and old traditions recommend all sorts of wacky things, and people come to many values on their own.
