What baffles me is seeing all of the screen grabs folks post on Twitter of responses they’ve gotten from Trump to them – even to private DMs they’ve sent. That tells me that Trump isn’t just posting on Twitter and reading his news feed… he’s actually reading (and sometimes responding to) a great deal of the thousands of replies he gets to his posts.
The guy isn’t just firing off angry tweets when an impulse strikes him… he’s spending the majority of his day on Twitter.
This is what’s so nail-bitingly chaotic about Trump: nobody knows what his actual beliefs are. Is he a Democrat? Well, he most certainly used to be one, with pro-choice, pro-single-payer-healthcare, and pro-labor stances. And he seems to be steering away from massive overspending on defense, another Democratic stance. But maybe he’s a far-right Republican! Or maybe it depends on who he’s standing near when he writes his tweets.
(although if you want to criticize the F-35, you could also point fingers at the LCS and Zumwalt destroyers - and the Ford carriers won’t be much use without planes to put on them - see the U.K…)
Given our current circumstances it might be wise to invest a whole lot more in cyberwarfare defenses, though given the circumstances I doubt he’d be too open to it.
Also:
That article was painful to read, but I liked this sentence.
His picks for important posts have been so consistently hard right that I feel pretty sure of what his actual beliefs and intended policies are. AND that they’re consistent, however much he puts on his Crazy Eight Ball act.
Oh, I’ll agree there, totally. The man himself might be saying things out of both sides of his mouth on a regular basis and seemingly dumping every campaign promise, but his actual actions certainly seem like he’s surrounding himself with the scariest group of scorch-the-earth right-wingers that we pretty much know how this is going to go.
