Ask one of the poll workers if your mom can either jump the line or at least sit down inside somewhere until you get to the head of the line.
Watch VoteCastr’s estimates of the votes in some states!

Sunshine and Lollipos, you say?
Thanks. Yeah I will definitely be doing that, regardless of what the answer is.
I feel like it’s not a lot to ask, and the Baptist Church polling place does have copious indoor seating.
She’s got this walker (that Zimmer frame if you’re reading this in the UK) that has a built-in seat. She’s not fond of it because the ergonomics make it hard for her to get up out of it once she’s sitting on it. But. Yeah…
You might have to search a bit. For example, in Illinois we vote for all of our judges (I kid you not) so both the local and state Bar Associations will have information on the candidates and whether or not they are Highly Qualified/Qualified/Not Qualified on legal grounds. You can even get a PDF that gives just the names and HQ/Q/NQ (2 pages, to give you an idea of how many judges we vote for). And you’re allowed to bring in as many notes as you want to the voting booth, plus of course any websites you’ve bookmarked on your phone. And the state has a customized PDF of what your particular ballot will look like based on where you live/vote, so you know exactly what referendums, etc. you need to research. All the text of those initiatives too, of course.
Start by searching both state and local government sites for voting info.
Also, the League of Women Voters (for everyone, not just women) or your state’s equivalent of IVO-IPO.
They give that small receipt to Gingers. Everyone else gets a full-sized receipt. There’s a way to go yet until we achieve full equality for all the downtrodden.
I don’t think it will make a difference. If it is close then the arseholes will feel empowered,if it isn’t then they will claim the election has been fixed. I expect there is some point where we will get both too.
Via 538:
On a Florida radio program this morning, Trump reasserted that he would not accept the election results “if I think there’s something that was wrong.”
I assume he’s talking about Obama right?
…There really haven’t been better presidents than him? I mean not that FDR and Teddy don’t have their dark points, but they certainly did a lot. Jefferson made the US a superpower with the stroke of a pen and a few million dollars from the treasury, his presidency was a product of the 2 party system. Lincoln’s a pretty popular guy for that emancipation thingy.
I guess if we’re statting presidents up Obama would score fairly highly for charisma though, with a severe malus to it for people of opposing alignments.
Vote by mail is astoundingly convenient. I have always had jobs that would have made it virtually impossible for me to vote without incurring the loss of a days wages and the irritation of my boss (if he/she even let me take the day off). But since we’ve had vote by mail, I don’t think I’ve missed a ballot. There is pretty much zero reason not to vote in my state. We get our ballots a few weeks before the election, and can drop them off anytime, night or day, at drop boxes at the election offices or return them by mail. I really do hope we can get vote by mail going nationwide soon (Ron Wyden is trying).
Edit: Also, the ballots (in Oregon at least) are virtually fool-proof. All you have to do is fill in the ovals, put the ballot in the envelope, and sign the envelope. Nothing else to fill out.
I would put Obama near the top of the middle, with McKinley. He is like McKinley in a lot of ways also.
That’s definitely my intuition as well, I just didn’t want to break out the research glasses and fill in a full list.
Peachy.
I think it is cool that you have become a USA citizen @beschizza
I voted…to open that safe!
TBH, we have the best I voted stickers, don’t we?
